Eric Van De Vens Blog

Not just another Word Press blog!

A1A 1/2 Marathon in the books!

I will add to this later, but in what can be described as “frigid” conditions, at least to us natives, I managed to set a new personal best with a time of: 2:46:24!

I will fill in the details later, but when the race started, it was 52 degrees. When I finished, it was 49 degrees and the  wind was said to be in the 20+ mph range and I can vouch for that!

  1. WOOHOO! Good job brother! I love the tights, 50 degrees would be cause for shorts and a long-sleeve up here. Chuckle. Glad you made it through. Congrats.

  2. Thanks!

If it had actually been 50 degrees, I would have worn the above outfit, minus the long sleeve shirt and tights. Here was the weather advisory:
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM EST SUNDAY.

    * WIND CHILL VALUES…A NORTHWEST WIND BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MPH ALONG WITH TEMPERATURES AROUND 40 TO THE MID 40S WILL RESULT IN WIND CHILL READINGS OF 28 TO 34 DEGREES FOR SEVERAL HOURS.

The actual wind gusts were higher, especially around downtown Fort Lauderdale. The wind really was the bigger problem.
