You will see that fruit and vegetables have been added in. And, gasp….a salad! Actually, I love salad, but, I tend to eat a giant bowl, think “Olive Garden endless salad”, and as a result, all the ruffage is, well, rough on my system! Speaking of “my system”, and by that, I mean waste system, the Isopure shake, at least the strawberry version, has an interesting side effect. As one gets older, one tends to examine things that come out of ones body. This is the case with me. Without getting too graphic, the Atkins diet, in some instances, can cause constipation, which in-turn, can cause other issues, like a red substance, (blood), on toilet paper after wiping. Usually from hemorrhoids.

After having two or three shakes the other day, and not much else until dinner, when I went to the bathroom, the toilet paper came out all red! As I looked in the toilet, the stool present was also all red, or more precisely, a dark pink! At first, I thought I had done something horrible to myself and not known it. After all, this was the same day I hurt my knee in the attics. The good news, it was just whatever  food coloring that was used in the Isopure, as my stool returned to its natural color.

Some may wonder why I pay attention to what comes out of my body. I am of the belief, that just like a race engine, you can fine tune your body if things are not going well. On an engine,if it is running “lean” you add more fuel to compensate and if it is running “rich”, you add more air or reduce the fuel, for optimum performance. There are other things you can do to a race engine to extract the maximum amount of power, but I haven’t figured out how to adjust the timing on myself! What does this have to do with the body? If your diet causes you to have frequent, messy bowel movements, perhaps you should add something to stop that. The same goes for a situation where elimination is difficult, lean out your diet.

And now, the treadmill workout:

For the first run in a week, it went better than expected. Apparently, running out of Trigosamine and my dance in the attic, combined to create a pretty painful knee. The good news is I made it through the run, unscathed! The left knee actually feels better now than before I left for the gym. Guess it just needs to be used and abused!

After the run, I did a light chest and arms workout, posted below:

As all of my “chores” are already done, I will spend the rest of the day poolside!

Saturday may be a light walk/run in order to get a course mapped out for the real running training that starts in May.

Sunday will start off with golf, weather permitting, and then, a little cheat day food-wise. Either Mexican day (margaritas and chicken nachos) or perhaps ribs and beer. Maybe I’ll let the readers choose!

The food diary will be posted tonight and any other developments will be posted over the weekend!

Speaking of which, everyone have a great weekend!
